Expect Greater Health and Wholeness
It is sometimes surprising how many parts of our stories and lives contribute to the distress that leads us to counseling. Our work together will of course focus on your current difficulties. But they will also likely reach back into your story, and down deep into the fabric of your day-to-day life. The goal is not primarily to look for sources of pain, but to explore sources of potential resilience and healing that God has already woven into your life and story. And it is often in being curious about what is happening in multiple areas of life that we discover the healing that God is inviting us into.
Expect Curiosity and Compassion
Your life, and your story, are unique. As a counselor, my role is not to swoop in as a “You”-expert, telling you what you need and what to do. In fact, the goals we set and the things we talk about in counseling sessions will largely be up to you. But a huge part of the way we reach those goals is through curiosity and compassion. It is a privilege to really get to know you, your story, and your heart; and counseling goes best when we are both leaning into your life, discovering and delighting in who you are, what God is doing and what He is forming in you.
